CartierTrinity 100, Art Basel Miami
An invisible photobooth inside an infinity room: no screen, no button, for the Trinity collection's hundredth anniversary.
During Art Basel Miami, Cartier celebrated one hundred years of the Trinity collection in a monumental infinity room in the Design District. The challenge: give every visitor a keepsake without breaking the spell of the scenography.
We proposed a complete rethink of the planned setup: no screen, no button, no visible interface. The equipment disappears behind a one-way mirror, instructions are projected, and the shot triggers on its own thanks to hybrid detection combining sensors and computer vision. Lighting is driven over DMX, and a QR code readable through the mirror leads to a photo retrieval microsite.
A prototype built in Montreal validated angles, lenses, brightness and sensors before departure. On site, the work was about reducing false positives caused by reflections, keeping the QR code scannable under changing light, and adapting the flow to each audience: guests, influencers, general public.
Real-time monitoring with SMS alerts and on-site presence for the whole event. The experience travelled widely on social media, and a marriage proposal was captured in the booth.
